AIREA PARRTICIPATES IN AAHAR 2022 AT PRAGATI MAIDAN DURING 26TH TO 30TH APRIL, 2022
AAHAR – Aahar 2022 is one of the biggest and largest fair in Asia organized by Indian Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) in association with All India Food Processors’ Organization (AIFPO), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Food Industries Welfare Association (FIWA) and many more. It was the 36th edition of Aahar held in 2022 from 26th April to 30th April 2022 exhibiting the food product, beverages, hospitality, agri-products, spices, etc.The new state of the art exhibition halls featured products from more than 800 companies. USA, UK, Canada, France, Italy, Austria, New Zealand, Peru, Indonesia, Bangladesh etc.The event sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries and APEDA.
India – An Emerging Market :The agricultural sector in India is slowly shifting from traditional farming to horticulture and livestock (poultry, dairy, and fishery) production. The demand for fresh and processed products of all types is increasing as the population urbanizes, incomes rise, and consumption habits change. India’s food and grocery retail business is estimated at $500 billion. The market share held by modern trade formats such as supermarkets and hypermarkets along with E-Commerce retailers is expected to expand rapidly over the next five years as it fulfills the evolving needs of consumers. The hospitality industry in India has been scoring a moderate growth number from the past few years and has great potential to score an even greater number in the future. The industry, which has been adversely effected by the pandemic is expected to grow exponentially with the easing of travel restrictions and boost given by the Indian Government for the industry.
India- A destination for sourcing quality food products :The Indian food processing market is expected to double from USD 263 billion (2019-20) to USD 535 billion (2025). India is the second biggest food producer globally, and it has the potential to become the largest producer of food in the whole world. The Food Industry in India includes milk and milk products, plantation, alcoholic beverages, vegetables and fruits, fisheries, poultry and meat, grain processing, chocolates and confectionery.
Inauguration of the event: Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Textiles inaugurated the AAHAR 2022 on 26th April 2022
More than 80 exporters from various agricultural product segments, including geographical indication products, processed food, organic, and frozen food products, attended the event. Exporters from the country’s North-East region, as well as Himalayan states such as Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, have dedicated stalls set up by APEDA. Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), women entrepreneurs, millet exporters, and start-ups, among others, are among the participants.
AIREA’s participation at the event: AIREA participated in AAHAR 2022 through 15sqm stall in Hall No. 3, M-Block, Stall No. 80.which was tastefully decorated with Posters reflecting various areas of activities viz training of farmers, product testing laboratories and other infrastructure facilities of the rice industry.
AIREA’s participation was coordinated by Mr. Vinod Kumar Kaul, Sr. ED, Ms. Neelam and Ms. Priyanka Marwah, Office Executive with support from staff members Mr Mahesh Singh and Mr Sunil Kumar.
Shri Pocha Brahmananda Reddy Hon’ble Member of Parliament (LS) from Andhra Pradesh and APEDA Board Member visited AIREA along with Mr. S S Nayyar, General Manager and Ms. Vinita Sudhanshu spent above 10minutes at the stall. And Mr. Vinod Kumaar Kaul explain to him the whole activity and functions of AIREA and about the Rice Trade Scenario from India.
AIREA conducted Basmati biryani taste sampling on two days of the event and the rice was provided by M/s Dunar Foods and M/s Supple Tek Industries Pvt. Ltd. The biryani was prepared by M/s Shriram Foods.
On 28th April, 2022, veg biryani prepared with the rice of M/s Dunar Foods was served for taste sampling. Mr Sarthak Gupta and Ms Kirti Dua were also present during sampling exercise.
On 29th April, 2022, biryani prepared with the rice provided by M/s Suppletek Industries Private Limited was served.
Visitors enjoyed the taste of Basmati biryani and appreciated the same.
Rice Start – up :Participating as new start up and prospective exporter, MsRushita Biswas of Jenmark Global Trade displayed rice preparations with Bhog varieties of West Bengal which was appreciated by all. She also displayed various variants of Black Rice, Red Rice and non-Basmati rice apart from rice based ready-to-eat (RTE) products and healthy snacks.
From North Eastern Region ,Ms Pinky Dutta Medhi of North East Agro Trade Private Limited displayed various varieties of black and red rice including Joha rice of Assam
Mr Bijoy Misra of SAMP India displayed his new collection of brand BudhaRatnaKalanamak scented rice of Sidharthnagar, UP which is also acknowledged as a GI product.
Conclusion : The participation of AIREA was useful and several leads and prospective new members were found during the event.
